What to Do or Activities in Dhotrey :

Apart from nature lovers, now-a-days the village has become the base camp of trekkers going to Sandakphu. From Dhotre, trekkers reach Tonglu – The Gateway to Singalila National Park. Tonglu is just 5 kms upward trek from Dhotrey through lush green forest. Adventure loving people can start walking up to Tonglu and come back to Dhotre by evening.

There is an excellent view point in Dhotre. The view point is located at the top of Dhotrey and can be reached with an easy upward trail through forest . From the view point 360 degree view of majestic Himalayas along with the mighty presence of Mt. Kanchenjunga and its neighbouring peaks is simply mind-blowing.

Else, spend time with the silence, chirping of numerous birds or walk around the village . There is a Monastery of Kagyu - Sect of Tibetan Buddhism, which also can be visited.

The best time to visit Dhotre is from Mid September to early December and February to April. March – april is a time when the region is filled with the fragrance and blossoms of Rhododendron, Magnolia and Orchids.Otherwise, it can be visited at anytime during the winter.

Visitor can go for a day trip to Rimbick and Sri Khola and en-route visit Lodhama River at Bansbotte.
